The Rinnai Hotflo GHF4170N is a 170 litre gas storage water heater for homes on natural gas. It delivers 257 litres of hot water in the first hour at a 45°C temperature rise, with a gas consumption of 20.5 MJ/h, and carries a 4 star energy rating. Rinnai's sizing guide suits it to households of up to 6 people in a warm climate or up to 5 in a cool climate.

The tank is vitreous enamel lined steel with inbuilt anode protection to extend its life, and a pressure temperature relief valve is fitted. It is an outdoor model only, standing 1915mm high, 420mm wide and 508mm deep, and weighs 83kg empty. It is not suitable for use as a pool or spa heater.

Rinnai covers the water heater with a 1 year parts and labour warranty, plus a guarantee to replace the unit if the inner cylinder fails within 8 years under domestic use. Installation must be carried out by an authorised person in line with AS/NZS 3500 and AS/NZS 5601.
