Choosing a fully integrated dishwasher
Fully integrated dishwashers that disappear behind a cabinetry panel, with controls on the top edge of the door. Brands include Fisher & Paykel, Bosch, Artusi and Casa.
They give the cleanest look in a kitchen, but need a door panel made to the dishwasher's specifications, usually by your cabinetmaker, as panels are rarely sold with the dishwasher. The kickplate also needs to suit the model, so it doesn't catch the door as it opens. Because the controls are hidden, check how the model shows that a program is running, such as a floor light or indicator. Noise matters more in open-plan spaces, so compare dBA figures.
