Choosing an island rangehood
Island rangehoods that hang from the ceiling above an island cooktop. Brands include Schweigen and Smeg.
Island rangehoods are built differently from wall canopies, so choose one designed for ceiling mounting. Air moves around an island from every side, which makes size and extraction more important, so check the model's recommended cooktop width and installation height. Plan the duct route through the ceiling early, or choose a model that can recirculate with carbon filters.
Replacing a rangehood? Check the new one suits your existing cut-out and can use the same ducting or flue, otherwise these may need changing. Your installer can confirm.
