The Rheem 299427 is a galvanised steel recess box for Rheem continuous flow gas water heaters. It lets the water heater sit within the wall rather than on its surface, and suits the 874 series 812, T16, 820, T26 and 826 models and the 876 series 812, T16, 820 and T26 models (12L to 26L).
The fascia measures 1088mm high, 428mm wide and 35mm deep, and the box needs a wall cavity 1010mm high, 349mm wide and 128mm deep. Rheem designed it for standard double brick construction: in a new wall the four securing tabs are set into the mortar joints as the bricks are laid, and in an existing wall the box is fixed into a prepared opening with suitable anchors.
The kit includes the box body, a front cover and a security bracket, which fits over the water heater's bottom bracket and takes a padlock (not supplied) to help deter theft. A weatherproof power outlet can be fitted inside or outside the box. It must be installed by a qualified person.
