Choosing a built-in electric wall oven
Built-in electric ovens from 60cm to 90cm wide, from everyday fan-forced models to pyrolytic, steam and double ovens, for under-bench or wall installation. Brands include Fisher & Paykel, Smeg, Bosch, Westinghouse and Artusi.
Choosing between models usually comes down to cleaning, cooking functions and size. Pyrolytic models clean themselves at high temperature. Steam and combi-steam ovens add moisture for roasting, baking and reheating. Double ovens let you cook at two temperatures at once. If you're replacing an existing oven, match the cut-out dimensions rather than the oven's outer width, and check whether your current oven is hardwired or plugged in.
Frequently asked questions
Can any 60cm oven replace my old one?
Not always. Cut-out sizes and ventilation requirements vary between models, so compare the installation specifications with your existing space.
Is pyrolytic cleaning worth it?
If you'd rather not scrub your oven, yes. The oven heats to around 400–500°C and turns residue into ash you wipe away. Pyrolytic models usually cost more upfront.
What does a steam oven add?
Steam keeps food moist. Combi-steam models pair it with conventional heat, so you can still brown and crisp.
Need more room? Compare large wall ovens from 70cm to 90cm wide, or add a built-in microwave to build a matching wall tower.
