Choosing a canopy rangehood
Wall-mounted canopy rangehoods that make a feature of your cooktop, venting through a flue, or recirculating with a carbon filter on some models. Brands include Schweigen, Fisher & Paykel, Smeg, Bosch and Westinghouse.
Canopy rangehoods need clear wall space above the cooktop and enough ceiling height for the flue, so check the flue's adjustable range against your ceiling. Choose a width at least matching your cooktop, and compare extraction and noise figures measured the same way. Ducting outside works best, and recirculating models need carbon filters.
Replacing a rangehood? Check the new one suits your existing cut-out and can use the same ducting or flue, otherwise these may need changing. Your installer can confirm.
