Choosing a freestanding dishwasher
Freestanding dishwashers with a finished top and sides, ready to stand on their own or slot into a gap. Brands include Fisher & Paykel, Smeg, Bosch, LG and Westinghouse.
Some freestanding models, including certain Westinghouse dishwashers, have a top that can be removed so they fit under a bench, lowering the height by about 3cm. Only do this where the installation guide allows it. Compare place settings, energy and WELS water star ratings, and noise levels if your kitchen is open plan.
Notice a little water inside when it arrives? Many dishwashers are tested at the factory before packing, so this is normal.
